Rob Thomas

Prof Rob Thomas is Chair of Manufacturing for Cell and Gene Therapies at Loughborough University and holds a joint academic/industry position as the Red Cell Programme Lead for Safi Biotherapeutics and Director of Manufacturing for Advanced Bioprocess Services. His work is focussed on addressing manufacturing challenges for cell and gene-based products, encompassing development of platforms, processes and modelling approaches. He and his team have successfully implemented manufacturing optimisation and cost reduction strategies for multiple pre-clinical products in the UK and US, particularly haematopoietic lineage cell-based therapies, with a focus on Red Blood Cells.
