Is a clinician scientist  and Urological Oncologist who trained in Internal Medicine  and subsequently in Medical Oncology at Hammersmith Hospital and at the Royal Marsden Hospital, London. He completed his PhD in cancer gene therapy at Imperial College. He was appointed Prof of Medical Oncology at the University of Surrey in 2007, and has led programs in scientific and clinical research in oncolytic virotherapy,  cancer vaccines and targeted cancer therapy. He has evaluated a number of oncolytic viruses in early phase clinical trials. His current interests also include metabolic, microbiome and immunological modulation of the tumour microenvironment. He has recently been appointed Medical Director at Accession Therapeutics.
