This post will link into ongoing research carried out at the Division of Brain Science on gene therapy in animal models of Alzheimer’s disease carried out by Dr Magdalena Sastre and Professor Nicholas Mazarakis.
The post is funded by the Dunhill Medical Trust to investigate new gene therapies aimed at treating Alzheimer’s patients at advanced stage of disease.
Duties and responsibilities
It is expected that the post holder will assist with participant recruitment and project supervision of BSc, MRS and MSc students. In addition, he/she will be expected to submit publications to refereed journals and to attract external research funding.
The candidate should have a strong interest in Molecular Biology and experience in animal models of neurodegeneration. Applicants must have, or have nearly completed, a PhD in neuroscience or related discipline, preferably hold an animal licence and have knowledge and expertise in viral vectors design. Animal surgery and behaviour analysis is highly desirable.
The post is full-time and fixed until 31st December 2020. It is based at our Hammersmith Campus.
